14 New Miri City Smart Buses – Free Rides for Residents

14 New Smart City Buses Arrive in Miri, Providing Free Rides for Residents.

Miri has welcomed 14 new smart city buses, which will soon be operational and available for free rides to the public. The Minister of Transport for Sarawak announced that these buses, sourced from Sweden, are part of an initiative to enhance local public transportation. They are awaiting their official launch.

This initiative is a pilot program that received approval from the Sarawak Chief Minister earlier this year. With the buses now in Miri, the city is preparing to roll out this new service, with hopes that residents will take advantage of this innovative offering. Footage recently shared on social media captured the buses arriving at Miri port and being unloaded, with test drives already occurring on local streets.

Interestingly, the buses are designed with colors inspired by the Sarawak flag, prominently featuring red, yellow, and black. This design not only emphasizes the area’s cultural identity but also adds a vibrant local character to the smart transportation system.
