Toxic Residues in Shine Muscat Grapes Exceed Safe Limits? Agriculture Ministry to Conduct Tests, Says Mat Sabu.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will conduct tests to determine if imported “Shine Muscat” grapes contain excessive levels of chemical substances.
Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently conducted tests on Shine Muscat grapes, revealing that 23 out of 24 samples had toxic residues exceeding safe limits, with more than half of the samples having untraceable origins.
“The ministry will assign the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) to conduct the testing. If the report shows excessive toxic residue, the ministry will make the findings public and take further action,” he said. Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, stated that Malaysia will test Shine Muscat grapes for toxic residue levels.
