AirAsia Introduces Fixed-Price Chinese New Year Flights

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that AirAsia will provide special fixed-price flights for the Lunar New Year, aimed at making it easier and more affordable for Malaysians to travel home for the festive season.

All-inclusive one-way tickets from Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru to Sarawak destinations such as Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, or Sibu, as well as from Johor Bahru to Kuching, Sibu, or Miri, will cost RM328. Meanwhile, flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, or Sandakan, and from Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu, will be priced at RM388.

During the launch event held at AirAsia’s headquarters, Minister Loke highlighted that this initiative, including additional midnight flights, is an independent effort by AirAsia without government funding or subsidies.

In 2025, AirAsia plans to operate nearly 3,600 flights per week during the festive period, offering over 27,000 seats at these fixed prices.

Minister Loke expressed the government’s appreciation for AirAsia’s efforts in making festive travel more accessible and convenient, reflecting its commitment to helping Malaysians reunite with loved ones.

Bookings will be open from December 3, 2024, to February 4, 2025, for travel between January 24 and February 4, 2025, allowing passengers to spend the festive period with their families.
