Civil servants Malaysia next year will be required to have a balanced Body Mass Index?
PSD: No Mandatory BMI Checks for Civil Servants, Only Health Advice
The Public Service Department (PSD) clarified it has not issued any directive requiring civil servants to maintain a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI).
This response came after claims by Miri Hospital director Dr. Jack Wong that BMI compliance would be mandatory starting next year.
The PSD explained that while it encourages self-health screenings, including BMI checks, participation is voluntary. These details can be entered in the HRMIS system to promote health awareness.
The department emphasized it supports initiatives to combat obesity in collaboration with the Ministry of Health but does not mandate a balanced BMI.
PSD also reminded that public statements referencing it must receive prior approval and ensure factual accuracy.
