Relentless Downpour Causes Miri’s Worst Flooding in a Decade.
Continuous heavy rain has caused widespread flooding and landslides across multiple areas in Miri, marking the most severe flood in the city in the past ten years.
In one affected area, a landslide caused a significant amount of soil to spill onto a road, temporarily disrupting traffic. Emergency measures were promptly initiated to address the situation.
The Miri Fire and Rescue Department, in coordination with the Miri City Council and Public Works Department, dispatched teams to carry out repairs and clear the debris from the affected road. Efforts were made to restore traffic flow as quickly as possible.
Emergency inspections of low-lying areas vulnerable to flooding were conducted to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
The heavy rain, which began in the early hours of the morning, resulted in water levels higher than usual. Residents in low-lying areas have been advised to prioritize their safety and report emergencies to the relevant authorities.
Those living near hilly areas are also urged to remain cautious due to the increased risk of landslides caused by the saturated soil. Precautionary measures are recommended to minimize potential harm.
