Taobao’s Malay Version to Launch This June!

Catering to Local Consumers

Taobao Malaysia has announced that it plans to launch a Malay-language version of its app in June this year, aiming to enhance the shopping experience for local users as global demand for quality online goods continues to rise.

This update is designed to better align with local language preferences and meet the growing demand for cross-border shopping among Malaysian consumers.

In a press release, Taobao Malaysia highlighted the platform’s recent global surge in popularity, noting that it has climbed to the second spot in app download rankings in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., and even topped the charts in France. In Malaysia, Taobao has also secured the second position in the iOS shopping app category, reflecting strong local trust and interest in the platform.

Creating a Seamless Shopping Experience

Head of Taobao Malaysia, stated, “The upcoming Malay interface marks a significant milestone in our localization journey and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing Malaysian users with a convenient and secure shopping experience.”

Taobao had already introduced an English-language interface in the Malaysian market in September last year. Powered by advanced AI, this feature automatically translates content on the platform and helps users overcome language barriers, while also offering bilingual customer support in English and Chinese.
