According to Capital A’s CEO, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, AirAsia will begin charging a carbon emission fee starting January 2025, with Malaysia being the first country to implement this measure. Tony also mentioned that the carbon fee will be introduced in other ASEAN countries, pending approval from their respective governments.
Earlier this year, Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport approved the collection of carbon emission fees by airlines.
