A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 struck Ranau, Sabah, at 2:56 PM today. Fortunately, no damage was reported.
According to information released by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the earthquake’s epicenter was located at 5.97°N latitude and 116.57°E longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was approximately 15 kilometers west of Ranau, where mild tremors could be felt.
Following the earthquake, the Fire and Rescue Department received reports and dispatched teams to conduct inspections in Ranau. These included checks on the Ranau Federal Government Complex, the Ranau District Council, schools, and buildings over three stories high.
According to the department’s report, the mild earthquake caused no damage to any buildings or facilities.
