The Old Miri Fish Market is located in the old town centre. In the past, its riverside location was ideal for landing fish captured in rivers and oceans, which could then be weighed and sold to the local community.
It no longer has the advantage of being close to the river for offloading fish supplies straight from boats, as the Miri River next to it has been filled in (the shore line and peninsular have been changed for the land reclamation of the Marina Bay).
The market has been relocated to a new location near the Pullman Miri.
The current structure will then be demolished to become a road. It’s now a memory for Miri people.
