IKEA Physical Store Coming Soon to Sarawak!

Great news! IKEA, the renowned Swedish home furnishings brand, is set to open its first physical store in Sarawak. No more flying to Kuala Lumpur just to shop for furniture!

While the exact location and opening date have yet to be announced, where do you hope it will be?

IKEA’s expansion into Sarawak marks a significant milestone in making its products more accessible to customers in East Malaysia.

Earlier this year, on February 4, IKEA launched a dedicated e-commerce platform for Sabah and Sarawak, allowing customers to shop online with greater convenience. According to Malcolm Pruys, IKEA Malaysia’s Country Retail Director, this initiative is part of the brand’s commitment to improving accessibility and affordability for customers in the region.

“As inflation stabilizes, we believe this is the right time to invest in pricing rather than profits,” Pruys said during a media briefing at IKEA’s Fulfillment Centre in Demak Laut Industrial Park, Kuching. He also highlighted that Sarawak’s strong commitment to sustainability aligns with IKEA’s values, making it an ideal location for further expansion.

With this exciting development, Sarawakians can soon look forward to a fully immersive IKEA shopping experience—from stylish and affordable furniture to the iconic Swedish meatballs! Stay tuned for more updates on the store’s location and opening date.
