Miri San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

Sarawak’s Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg declared plans for the construction of a cable-stayed bridge at the mouth of the Miri River.

This bridge will connect the opposite port to the coastal city and serve as a new landmark for Miri, enhancing the city’s tourism infrastructure. Emphasizing the need for such an iconic structure, he likened it to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, highlighting the importance of architectural landmarks in urban development.

The landmark bridge in Miri will be a cable-stayed bridge, resembling the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, to be constructed in Miri. It will span the mouth of the Miri River, connecting either from the Lambir Hills National Park or the golf course to the coastal city, although its name is yet to be determined. Abang Johari did not provide specifics regarding the bridge’s construction details, including the commencement date, associated costs, or its height and length.
