The Miri Sentral Bus Terminal will officially begin operations on January 18, 2025, with daily operating hours from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
This announcement was made by the Mayor of Miri. The City Council received official confirmation from the operator through a letter, stating the terminal’s opening date. Currently, beautification and other renovation works are being carried out at the terminal. A launch ceremony is scheduled for January 17, 2025, one day prior to its official opening.
Once operational, the new terminal will replace the Pujut Bus Terminal as the city’s main bus hub. The existing terminal in Pujut has been in service for many years and faces issues with outdated facilities, which are awaiting federal funding for upgrades and refurbishment.
The Mayor highlighted that the City Council has established a task force to oversee preparations for the terminal’s opening, ensuring that all aspects are completed smoothly. The new terminal is expected to improve the efficiency and quality of public transportation services, contributing to the overall development of the city.
The City Council encourages the public to cooperate during the transition period over the coming months and adapt to the operations of the new terminal. For complaints or suggestions, residents can contact the City Council at 085-433800.
The Miri Sentral Bus Terminal will be a key choice for passengers traveling on long-distance cargo and passenger buses, underlining its importance. It will also address the lack of parking space at the old terminal.
