At present, only Kuching in Sarawak have direct flights to Singapore. In year 2022, people in Miri can also enjoy direct flights to Singapore.
Sarawak’s Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said that Scoot will open the Singapore-Miri route in mid-January year 2022, with two round-trip flights a week.
Scoot expressed interest in a letter, and the Ministry of Transport of Sarawak has also received approval from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) for the benefit of Miri people.
The Ministry of Transport of Sarawak has also asked Scoot to provide relevant documents for further processing.
Previously AirAsia also provided direct flights from Miri to Singapore before, but it is temporarily suspended.
