The new Shell office signboard is up in Miri, marking the return of the modernized headquarters. The long-awaited Shell headquarters in Miri, Sarawak, has officially unveiled its new office building signboard in the bustling city center.
This return of Shell is seen as a catalyst for Miri’s economic revival, reinforcing its reputation as the “Oil City.”
The company is in the final stages of setting up the new office and preparing for the relocation to the building. Shell’s return to Miri from Kuala Lumpur has garnered significant attention from businesses, hoping to stimulate market activity. Having initiated operations in Miri in the early 1910s with onshore oil extraction, Shell shifted focus to offshore development in the 1960s.
However, over a decade ago, the headquarters moved away from Miri to locations such as Sabah and Kuala Lumpur. The anticipation surrounding Shell’s regional office returning to Miri is high among businesses, as the company’s well-paid staff is expected to boost consumer spending and stimulate various industries.
