Sarawak Government to Provides RM1,000 Aid to Flood Victims

The Sarawak government will give RM1,000 to each registered flood-affected family.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof visited Bintulu to inspect flood relief efforts and ensure residents’ safety.

He called the flooding one of the worst in the region and assured that the government is working hard to provide rescue and support. Along with Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, he visited evacuation centers at Sebauh and Bintulu Civic Centre.

Due to overcrowding, a new shelter will be set up at Parkcity Mall for 1,000 people. He urged victims to follow rescue team instructions and register for aid.

Fadillah noted that relief supplies are delayed due to the Lunar New Year holidays but will be transported from Kuching soon. He thanked all agencies and volunteers for their help and confirmed that each household would receive RM1,000. More assistance will be provided after further assessment.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Urges Evacuation

Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas thanked Fadillah for his support and confirmed the RM1,000 aid from the Sarawak government. He urged residents to evacuate quickly as water levels may rise.

He praised rescue teams for their fast response, ensuring no casualties. The government is supplying essentials and medical support to prevent disease outbreaks.

The Sarawak government is committed to keeping flood victims safe and helping them recover quickly.
